Archiving a page

Benoît Updated by Benoît

Archiving a page allows you to remove a page from your portal, but also to preserve its source code in case you need to reuse it later.

The archive is only available in the code editor menu. The Studio has its own workflow to publish and unpublish pages. See Publishing a page for more detail.

Archiving a page

You can archive a page from

  • The code editor menu:
    • Hovering over a page in the list will show the archive button on the right side of the card.
    • Selecting one or several pages in the list, the archive button will appear on top of the list.
  • The content editing interface. The archive button is located on the top-right side of the interface.

Archiving a page has the following consequences:

  • The page url is deactivated, removing access to its online content. Consequently, all the hyperlinks that pointed to this page are broken and must be removed manually.
  • The page status changes to archived. The page disappears from the Published tab to appear in the Archived tab.
  • Editing its code and properties is turned off. Security parameters can be edited.
  • The page can be duplicated, its code copied and pasted in your clipboard. This enables you to use the code in another page, should you wish to do so.
  • An archived page is no longer counted as a published page. The portal administrator will no longer see it appear in the portal's page count.
  • An archived page remains a part of your ODS portal. Its url, even though deactivated, cannot be reused for another page.

Unarchiving a page

You can unarchive a page from:

  • The code editor menu, by
    • Hovering over a page in the list to show the archive button on the right side of the card.
    • Selecting one or several pages in the list, so that the archive button appears on top of the list.
  • The content editing interface. The unarchive button is located on the top right of the interface.
A page is automatically published the moment it is unarchived.

Unarchiving a page has the following consequences :

  • The page status changes to published. The page disappears from the Archived tab to appear in the Published tab.
  • The ability to edit its code and properties is turned back on. Security parameters remain editable. Note that the url remains locked.
  • An unarchived page is automatically counted as part of a portal's published pages. Hence, the administrator will see it appear in the portal's page count.

Archiving and distribution

You can archive a page that is distributed on other workspaces, but you cannot archive a page that is distributed from another workspace.

When you archive a page that is distributed on other workspaces, you are in effect canceling the distribution. Indeed, if you unarchive a page that was distributed before its archiving, the distribution will not be reinstated automatically. You must distribute it again manually.

Archiving a page distributed from another workspace is impossible because this page is an uneditable copy of the original page. You have two options to remove a distributed page:

  1. Cancel the distribution from the origin workspace (see this section).
  2. Delete the distributed version from this workspace.
